The families of teenagers missing after a deadly blaze at a bar in a Swiss ski resort are enduring an agonising wait for official news and appealing for any details about their loved ones online.

The fire engulfed the a popular bar in Cans-Montana, located in the mountains of south-west Switzerland, in the early hours of January 1st. Confirmed footage reveal the ceiling catching alight as bottles with fireworks are held aloft.

Officials have stated that it could take an extended period to identify the fatalities of the tragedy, which claimed the lives of four dozen individuals and hurt another 119. Officials said on Friday that the majority of the those hurt have been accounted for, with work still underway to name the final individuals.

In the meantime, families and friends have been taking to online platforms to plead for clues about their friends who were at the bar that night.

Desperate Searches for the Unaccounted For

The Italian Golf Federation has said that he is no longer with us, without directly referencing the fire, paying tribute to a "young athlete who carried with him passion and authentic values."

His parent, told media that his son was at the bar and was last heard from around midnight. An official spokesperson has stated that a formal confirmation of his death is still pending.

Further Cases

Giovanni Tamburi, 16, is also among the missing. His parent explained that he had been on holiday but had ventured out with a group and found himself at the bar.

"Someone with him told me they ran away after the fire broke out and that he had his phone with him, but then at a specific moment he they were separated," she recounted, adding he had been wearing a distinctive gold chain.

One of his educators said, "I've always been struck by his kindness and smile, coupled with great maturity. Every time ask if help out."

Alice Kallergis, who holds both Greek and Swiss citizenship but lives permanently in Switzerland, was also at the bar on that night, according to sources.

Her sibling has published an urgent request online, saying the relatives has had "no news" regarding the 15-year-old or the group she was with, who are also reported missing.

Consular authorities from her other nation say they are closely watching the developments.
