Formal charges have been brought against two men in connection with a suitcase robbery where a suspected capsaicin spray led to people being hurt at London's Heathrow Airport.

Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, are accused of two robbery charges and two counts of deploying a toxic agent, according to official statements.

The charges follow an probe of an assault at the parking structure at Heathrow's Terminal Three on Sunday. Before the assault occurred, two women were robbed of their luggage stolen after exiting a parking garage elevator, authorities reported.

A toddler was one of the people hurt in the event. A total of five individuals were taken to a medical facility and were later discharged.

The incident – described by police as was not part of a series and deemed non-terroristic – led to disruptions to rail services and the temporary blocking of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking area for a limited duration.
