Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Nigeria Following Deadly Car Crash

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, officials in Lagos announced on late Wednesday. The athlete was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his close associates.

Healing from Light Wounds

Joshua had been receiving medical attention while healing from his light wounds, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to continue his recovery at home.

“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.

Remembering the Victims

The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the athlete was heartbroken and deeply emotional over the tragic loss of his two trusted companions.”

His release from the hospital arrives after the boxing community offered condolences for the star in the following the terrible crash.
